Where There's A Will...

This is the public description of the characters in Where There's A Will.... This information is general knowledge and may be radically different than that in the personal biographies.

Andrea: (early 20's) This odd young woman presented herself at the estate one day last year and Millard took her in. She's a tough, streetwise kid with no social polish and little civility. Nothing is known of her past - not even her last name. No one knows why Millard kept her around, unless it was to annoy everyone else. She spent a lot of time with him before he died. Millard must have left her something in the will because the attorneys insist that she has the legal right to live at the estate until after the will is read.

Jeremiah Barclay: (late 40s) Jeremiah is the junior partner in The Carruthers Group. He believed he would be the acting President after Millard's death. He was wrong. Schuyler Thornton got the job. Although Jeremiah and Millard had had a big fight three months ago, they recently patched up their differences. If he inherits a small percentage of Millard's stock, he could gain control of the company.

Tyler Calhoun: (late 30s) The bluff, hearty ex-NFL star is currently head football coach at MSC (Magdalene Smith College). He is also a close friend of Millard's only son - the late John Carruthers. Perhaps Millard left Tyler something because of this friendship.

Phoebe Carruthers: (mid 50s) Millard's eldest daughter Phoebe is the most eccentric of his children. Never married, Phoebe supports herself quite comfortably from the output of a steady stream of Gothic romance novels. A confirmed naturalist, "Aunt Phoebe" is occasionally seen walking the estate grounds stark naked.

Dr. Charles Colville: (early 60s) Millard's physician is a crusty old country doctor. He has attended Millard for many years and was with him when he died. He is distantly related to the Carruthers family.

State Representative Daphne Carruthers Forrest: (early 50s) Millard's second child Daphne is married to the Amazing Winston. She used to be his stage assistant. Now she represents her district in the Rhode Island House of Representatives. They live in a wing of the estate. Daphne distrusts Allison Hastings. She and Millard argued long and often about Allison. Despite her family's well-publicized eccentricities, Daphne is running for the United States House of Representatives.

Geoffrey and Gerald Forrest: (about 30) Daphne's middle children are twin sons Geoffrey and Gerald. They are inventors who create nothing but disasters. Their laboratory in the cellar usually reeks of smoke from the meltdown of their latest electronic wonder. A month ago, their "antisynchronous chronoquantic receiver" destroyed every television and radio within a six-mile radius of the estate.

Harriet Forrest: (early 30s) Daphne's eldest child Harriet is a self-professed witch. A stern lecture from Millard ended the symbolic sacrifices and the use of goat's blood in the garden. The midnight rituals have continued, however, despite Millard's most insistent threats. Her tarot card interpretations "predicted" Millard's passing.

Samantha Forrest: (late 20s) Daphne's youngest child Samantha was a tramp. Flaunting her sexuality, Samantha worked her way through a series of men. Then she was kidnapped by the radical Native American People's Armed Liberation Movement terrorist group. She hasn't been the same since, except for her complete and continuing disgust for Millard and all he stood for.

Winston Forrest: (middle 50s) Daphne's husband Winston is "The Amazing Winston," a magician and hypnotist of some repute. Winston is in "semi-retirement," having settled for running the estate for Millard. Winston does his act for charities and special benefits. He's a wizard at magic and estate management - be just hasn't got a clue about how to deal with his children.

P.J. (Pamela) Garibaldi: (early 30s) A partner in the law firm of Weintraub, Anderson, Garibaldi and Williams, she is assisting Taylor Williams with the legal matters surrounding Millard's will and the disposition of The Carruthers Group.

Allison Hastings: (mid 30s) Millard's young nurse Allison quickly became very close to him. As far as the family was concerned (particularly Daphne), she became too close. Nevertheless, Millard refused to fire her. She claims that Millard married her eight weeks before he died.

Bambi La Tache: (mid 20s) A blonde bimbo who arrived at the estate with Phillip. (As the scenario opens, Bambi and Phillip have not yet arrived at the estate.)

Olivia Carruthers Thornton Markham Schoolcraft Chang Leverrier: (early 50s) Millard's third daughter Olivia is currently divorcing her fifth husband - maybe to marry Jason Wedgeworth. She lives in a lavish condominium that Millard purchased for her when she was eighteen. She does nothing but find new ways to wheedle money from Millard and spend it in extravagant ways. Now it looks like those funds have dried up. She certainly can't rely on her several ex-husbands ("those bums").

Stuart Leverrier: (late 30s) Olivia's fifth husband Stuart is a n'er-do-well actor whose primary claim to fame is his ongoing role as the troubled Doctor Wade Fairfax on the venerable soap opera Eden County. Stuart, who often has difficulty separating his own personality from that of his alter ego, insists that he has every right to attend the reading of Millard's will. After all, he and Olivia are still man and wife...

William Messier: (early 50s) The butler, William, has been putting up with Millard for a long time. Whenever Millard would give him a tough time, William would give it right back. William tolerates Millard's children, but is somewhat less than respectful in his treatment of the grandchildren.

Thaddeus Mikulski: (late 30s) Millard's gardener Thaddeus is a hard worker, always busy around the estate's grounds. Every now and then, Millard would go to Thaddeus' little house on the back of the estate and share a bottle of whiskey.

Jonathan North: (mid teens) This odd young man arrived unexpectedly at the estate and claims to have the right to attend the reading of Millard's will. (As the scenario opens, this character has not yet arrived at the estate.)

Lindsay North: (mid 30s) No one knows who Lindsay is or what she does, but she called on Millard at least once a month and occasionally more often. She's not connected to The Carruthers Group in any apparent way.

Millicent Richards: (mid 30s) Millard's personal secretary for the last year, Millicent did everything she could for him. She has been in seclusion since his death, and the business has suffered because of her absence. She has never married.

Kevin Schoolcraft: (early 50s) Olivia's marriage to her third husband Kevin lasted longer than any of her other marriages. Kevin has a "deal" for everyone. He has investments in all sorts of markets and commodities. Millard couldn't stand him, calling him a "bumbling fool" and an "utter idiot." Why would Millard name him in the will?

Phillip Schoolcraft: (mid 20s) Olivia's second child Phillip was fathered by Kevin. Phillip is a daredevil race car driver. He's had several close calls, only some of which occurred on the race track. Phillip has smashed up two of Olivia's Porsches during the last year.

Eileen Thornton: (early 20s) Nick and Jennifer Thornton's daughter never believed that she would be remembered in her "Uncle" Millard's will. It seems, however, that she has. Eileen and her brother Ross control Thornton Enterprises, their late grandfather's business.

Nick Thornton III: (mid 50s) Olivia's first husband Nick is the youngest son of the wealthy Philadelphia Thorntons. A nice guy, he still works for Millard as one of the executives of The Carruthers Group. He and Olivia had a nasty fight for the custody of Schuyler, which was only settled when Millard sided with Nick. Fortunately, Nick's second marriage to Jennifer Bates was a much happier one - marred only by her untimely death in 1983.

Ross Thornton: (early 20s) Nick and Jennifer Thornton's son never believed that he would be remembered in his "Uncle" Millard's will. It seems, however, that he has. Ross and his sister Eileen control Thornton Enterprises, their late grandfather's business.

Schuyler Thornton: (late 20s) Olivia's eldest child, Schuyler was fathered by Nick. Last Christmas, Millard joked that "Schuyler was too decent to be Olivia's son." Schuyler, a true gentleman, borrowed a small sum from Millard to start up a company that supplies heating oil to needy families. He has long since repaid the sum. Schuyler is the acting President of The Carruthers Group.

Dr. Erich von Schtupp: (late 50s) The doctor has been the chief of staff at the Whitecliffe Retreat for many years. Since so many of the Carruthers family have found themselves guests at Whitecliffe, perhaps Millard left the institution some sort of bequest.

Jason Wedgeworth: (late 30s) Jason is Olivia's current boyfriend. Not much is known about him. A few weeks before Millard's death, he and Millard had an argument in Millard's office.

Taylor Williams: (early 30s) A partner in the law firm of Weintraub, Anderson, Garibaldi and Williams, Taylor is the executor of the will.
