Level Up!

Game History

July 13, 2019 — v1.1+

There weren't enough evening slots at Summer LARPin' for all the players who'd signed up, so Jennifer convinced Gaylord to help run Level Up! The LARP only had a few lonely signups until the week of the event, when we reached our minimum of five players. One of them didn't show up. We were able to grab three more players from people sitting around, so we ended up with seven.

We had the largest rap battle to date — four players through a couple of rounds, with some unusual alien rhymes! I don't know where Sarah found the energy to run around all game, but I want some. Clothes were swapped, a song verse was sung, fashion lines were walked, and Dr. Lord Buzzkillington realized that any medical work required combat! It was a lot of fun for a bit over two hours.

Our thanks to our 7 players: Cameron B., Anandi G., Sarah J., Joshua K., Kevin P., Glenn T., and Rowan.

April 6, 2019 (2 PM) — v1.1

There was a mad rush to clean up, with help from some of our noon players. Julie and Jennifer quickly handed out packets to the twelve players, our first full run of the game. The madness started anew, with more plotting and posturing. There were runway walks, dance moves, and rap battles. People were laughing and punning, having a great time, filling the entire two hours.

Our thanks to our 12 players: Will F., Michael G., Melanie S., Liliya B., Tory R., Allan P., Sami G., Alex S-C., Charley S., Michelle S., Lucia S., and Jan-Willem M.

April 6, 2019 (noon) — v1.1

Julie and Jennifer had to get up early to get to the Brandeis Festival of LARPS 2019, so we could set up in Olin-Sang 116 before the players arrived. The early game in the slot ran almost to noon, so we had to rush prepping the space. All of the crazy days leading up to the game paid off, with more for everyone to do. There were five players (out of ten) in their first LARP. Everyone seemed to have a great time. There was laughter, pinky swears, fashion breakthroughs, and a wonderful song sung in the middle of the game. The two hours went fast.

Our thanks to our 10 players: Ash M., Sean A., Hannah M., Lina P., Rachel S., Craig F., Marissa F., Annie H., Kylie H., and Justin W.

February 24, 2019 — v1.0

The first run of the game was as part of the Intercon S Iron GM competition. We had eight players at 10 AM on Sunday morning, and four awake GMs (Julie, Jennifer, Tim and Gaylord), which was impressive. We had a lot of fun. Players laughed as they read their character sheet. They were positively silly on an early morning. We learned a lot about the game we'd written, and liked what we saw.

Our thanks to our 8 playtesters: David L., Justin S., Katelyn, Kevin L., Matt E., Matt K., Matt McN., and Ace T.
